Alocasias make beautiful houseplants, with some types performing well in the garden too. There are over 90 species all originating from subtropical and tropical Asia and parts of Australia. Alocasias are members of the aroid family with many interesting hybrids having been created over the years. As terrestrial plants, alocasias prefer a fairly even level of moisture and medium light intensity. These are very rewarding plants to keep that size up quickly and come in so many interesting varieties; many people count them among their favourite plants!
